Trying to get the xflow to start , it does , splutters and dies. Found the point were fooked and the dizzy was very loose.
How do i sort it out , thinking along the lines of
plugs out
rotate engine until timing marks align
rotor arm pointing to cylinder 1 , adjust and nip up the dizzy
refit rotor arm , caps, leads , plugs
check leads are 1 2 4 3 anti clockwise
Start he up and get to temp
Time using strobe light
If it wont start , it is possible to be 180 degrees out
Does this sound about right

I'm glad its not just me, did it start all right before? have you removed the dizzy at any time,
if it was ok and you havnt removed it just turn it to TDC with no1 plug out so you can put a pencil down the plug hole to gauge when it comes up to tdc then look at where the rotor arm is,it should be in line with no1 lead and the points should just be opening.if it is not, take the rocker cover off,and turn the engine by hand until you get both valves on no4 on the rock , you should by turning the crank slightly either way be able to open and close both valves, check no 1 the valves should be fully closed and on firing stroke. if you then find the dizzy isnt pointing to no1,take it out, turn the rotor,so its pointing to no2 put it back in, it will turn towards no1 as the dog turns, adjust the points, then tighten the holding nut on the body,
If it starts but splutters and dies that sounds more like a fuel problem, check your float chamber, clean out your idle jet,
fitted accuspark leccy ignition and new cap , and the beast fired up.
only firing on 3 cylinders with nothing much happening on cylinder 1. lots of unburnt fuel going off in the exhaust with some popping back through the carb.
the next step is new leads and resetting the valve clearances. pleased it sarts and runs. i will post a good video to look at
