Called in Aldi in Bolton this afternoon for some German Christmas goodie and found an 160 amp arc Welder reduced to £19.99. 5 more left. Steve Kerry bought one a few months ago at £40 he now has another. I have used Steve and works a treat, good enough for home DIY.

yeah was looking at the arc welder in our local Aldi, tempted but my mig is 150A and works a treat .....touch wood. so not a lot for me to gain.

Fruit cake, I didn't realise I don't need to buy one I just need to enjoy the ones on here.

It has to be something in the water?? How did we get from Arc welders going cheap, to fruitcake and Lederhosen,

how thin can you go with an 160 amp arc welder? when ever i tried to use one on car bodywork, in the past, i blew holes even with the setting as low as it would go so i binned mine and purchased a mig welder

at 160A something like 4mm i would think and even then......but if you turn it down to 30A ish than 1mm should be do-able..... ;-)

This one goes from 55 to 160, I have a large MIG but the mucking about moving it round just for a small job is a pain.
