Grrr! turned out with The Northern Duttoneers this morning, we met up at usual place Black Dog Pub,Belmont. It was a good start as Merlin Tours where meeting theere to travel onto the Isle of Man, some nice cars the eariest a 1923 Bentley (photos posted on The Northern Duttoneers website).

After a quick brew we left to make our way over the Holden Wood Tea rooms in Haslingden, we had only gone about 3 miles when turning right towards Tockholes the engine cut out, but restarted straight away, but within another mile cut out again. Official breakdown points lost. after a tweek of the wires to the ignition power pack the engine started again, only to stop within another mile.

This time the stubborn b**g** would not fire. The other guys came up with a quick plan, we had just passed a cafe so ferry the ladies there and come back pick me up run me home for points and condensor to replace the electronics. As steve and Martin pulled away, the Phaeton started so set off to meet them at the cafe. After a brew and a bacon bap each, I decided that was best that we abandon the run and try to get the 10 miles home. Steve and Martin said they would follow me home just in case she cuts out again. Would you believe it she never skipped a beat all the way.

Evidently she did not want to go to Haslingden!!

Check all connections and replaced the coil feed wire, Steve K turned up and had spark plug testers and coil tester, all OK. I continue to run the Lumenition pack but carrier the points and condensor in the boot tool kit in future.

Yes I am up for that, but not Marian, I'll get in touch with Steve K see if he fancies it.

Update, points and condensor work better. I have never broken down as many times since fitting the Lumenition pack. This morning before the run out to Capethorne Hall.

So rush and roar stipped out the electronics and fitted conventional ignition back all in 10 minutes, quick timing set by rack o'th eye, and off to meet the boy's.
