Dutton Kit Cars and their owners

Herald SP 12

On the front i have herald brake calipers (Girling ?) they have SP12 on them which i believe is early hearld units with a 43 diamter piston.

Both calipers are siezed and very rusty , it is difficult to find direct replacements however a few sites are selling a type 14 caliper (12/50 ...13/60) that may well fit.

Does anyone have experience on triumph calipers , it will be expensieve to buy a pair and find they dont fit.

Thanks

neil i have a pic of mine which i rebuilt  completely including the seal between the two halves. i'll dig it out for u and the kit was only a few pennies.

Decided to buy a pair of new calipers , discs , pads and pins off that Jumblemaster on Ebay.£150

If they fit (which he assures me they will) then it will be a majot step towards the mot , a small adjustment to the rear brakes and we are away, cant think of anything else that would stop me. Probably the wrong time of the year to have a "top less" car on the road but it will be nice to drive it and if i get wet...then so be it.

I actually got into Duttons by mistake , i wanted a Quantum (fiesta based) and noted a Legerra was for sale at similar price and eventually found the Dutton ning site. I would still like a Leggy as they remind me of the RS 200 rally cars of the mid eyes (from the front).

Made a few glass fibre items using home made moulds , its so easy and just made some doofers for the indicators to fit on the cycle wings. Used an olive tray as the mould.
