DuttonOwners

Dutton Kit Cars and their owners

It's about time you guys in the South East and West got it together

I think you are all scared of meeting up and getting a regional meeting going instead of talking a good argument about why it doesn't happen.

The Northern Duttoneers have been together as a social group for more than 4 years. OK we are all within 12 miles of each other, so can help each other with a spare pair of hands when needed. The tours and days out are well organised and it's much better to get out on a run with other cars, there nowt worse than sitting drinking tea on your own.

So come on get it together instead of talking about doing it, just do it.

Yeah Daryl, but once we started we found another 3 Dutton owners locally that we never new about. your close to the home of Dutton's I bet there a few around you, and we don't restrict it to just Dutton owners we now have Westfield, Caterham, TVR and a nearly finished Radical which is in the Grimsby area over a hundred miles away. We all met by turning up at the Robin Hood monthly meet in Preston 20 miles away.

10 of us meet up last night at the Blundell Arms, no Dutton's in sight only our tin tops , honestly it works but you have to make the effort.

Dave i couldnt agree more,  i used to be in the kent kit car club and their social scene was one of the reasons i joined, oh and to meet like minded people.  now i'm in Sussex  its most likily going to be the local bexhil motor club, not kit car club  as such, but a couple of friends i know are members and drive kit cars, another has a morgan, i keep getting told that i must get some of our Duttons together and join them on a run out,  so its a posibility  the problem down south is that we are to far apart to meet up unles its at a show, but take my area, if i take a 30 mile radious, there are about 8 Dutton owners that are members, but only 2 Daryl and myself who are on the face of it working on our cars no one else posts  theres another melos in Hastings somewhere, and cars in folkestone and Dover  there are bound to be more going out towards brighton and worthing , but you never hear from the owners,  I was promised a list  of local members,  i did have an idea of writing to them, to see if we could get something going, and get the Southern Duttoneers  on the go

Steve i always had you down as either a druid or a crusty,  the only drawback with meeting at Stonehenge is that down here virgins to sacrifice are somewhat rare, can you bring a couple? howabout  apprentices?  can you use them instead ?

Seriously though, i would prefer doing a long weekender, and don't stop at stone henge and meet up somewhere like the south devon Coast and do a run out over Dartmoor  etc drive down friday night, camp or b&b and drive out over some of the devonshire back roads have a pub meal etc visit local attractions,  actually, a club booking at a camp site  sounds like fun

This is a population density map of the UK. The most obvious red area is London but I doubt that there are that many Duttons or kit cars in the central part, say a 10 mile radius of the centre. This leaves a band around London as being potential fertile areas for kitcars.

What is very noticable is the red around the Northern Duttoneers' territory. With a number of smaller cities and towns and just the right amount of space to encourage kitcar driving, then it is not surprising that a group should spring up, or maybe two.

Looking at the map, we might expect groups near Newcastle, Birmingham and Glasgow. There might also be enough interest on the south coast near Portsmouth too.

I dare say there might be enough interest in the Bristol and South Wales area too, but it is quite a large area.
