Dutton Kit Cars and their owners

On the weekend , my friendly MOT man paid me a visit to have a look at the car. I wanted him to check the position of lights (as i had changed them) , seat belt anchorage points( i put in a false floor) and general construction.

Apart from not having any front brakes (see earlier post about calipers) , he thought in general the car was ok and should pass provided i can get me calipers sorted.

The areas that i needed to improve were :

  • He thought the front heald lights whilst firmly attached had a little bit of excessive play , i fixed this by adding a supporting rod (like as used on rally car spot lights).
  • My exhaust was mega loud , he thinks its on the way out so may have to address this.
  • My two front tyes look a bit old , for safety reasons i should change these.

This was no means a full MOT test and guarantee that it will pass however i am pleased that i am going in the right direction. There is light at the end of the tunnel.

He has a nice RS2000 rally car running full group 4 set up , 2.5 alloy pinto with warrier 16 valve head, Jenvey throttle bodies with a six speed sequential box. Its fast.
