New starter solenoid fitted tonight, that as sorted the poor starting. the starter spins up much quicker.

wonder why I put up with it for the last year.

Also snaffled some stick on velcro from a customers, so now the roof seals to the doors. heavy duty stuff used on Forklift cabs, once its stuck on it not coming off.

I noticed this westy has Velcro on doors and hood, and they are well stuck, even when I un pop the front, you cannot just peel it off, could be following your example MrT.

I just can't get used to Velcro because it sounds like you are ripping it every time. It just feels wrong to me. Oops, NEGATIVE!!

Velcro is a fantastic invention and it is so light and robust. It works for kiddies shoes that get put on and off all day long and it still lasts ages. I wish I had thought of that when I had the Melos.

It had never occurred to me that a solenoid would behave like that, I always assumed that they either worked or they didn't. I wonder if that is why my Legerra starter turns so slowly.

Over the years the internal contact tips get burnt and pass less current. Surprised me the difference it made to the speed the starter turned.

The lazy starter on my pinto was down to dirty contacts on the solenoid. ...I disassembled it and dremmel'd it clean....cured. post on this site somewhere showing how it was done.

mmm ill take a look at that dave. the sierra turns quite slowley. interesting
