They've been on 11 years, so suppose had my monies worth. Been good tyres though for cheaper ones, good feel, in dry and wet.

Luckily the Campsite / Farm we have our caravan on lent me their farm trailer, made ramps to suit. Result. Phaeton now back on the my drive at home, now to search out a deal for set of new treads.

I believe that the rubber loses its grip when it gets old enough to crack - I may be wrong, but it makes it easier to bear buying new ones when you still have tread left on the old ones.

You would have been ok. But it all comes down to personal choice. Thd saying ignorance is bliss is very true on kit cars....

My Phaeton sit on the drive all year with the N/S in the sun ( Daryl sometimes it's Sunny in the North too). Could have driven home but felt it wasn't safe now I had seen the cracks. Time for new tyres all round.

That's about right Daryl, I was about to drive 100 miles this morning to home, I found both Front & Rear N/S tyres had cracked side walls.
The Phaeton is now on a trailer on it's way home.
