tacked in position, I now have the engine on modified mounts. Positive step forward :-) Today, welding gearbox mounts and then strip it all out again for a tidy up

It's not weakened, but I'm not happy with it, so may start again once the engine is pulled, again. The strut brace needs altering too. This was going to be a quick fix, how wrong is that :-))

Just an idea but wouldn't it have been stronger/easier to cut all but the last 2inch on either end of that x member and then put a full width straight piece sat on top, you'd still have clearance and avoid weakening the x member.
