Steve, thanks for dimensions I will do some measuring later.

Just been out in the cave, 95mm from the Pinto block to the fingers. Thrust bearing: Crossflow is 35mm. Pinto is 40mm. and the Cosworth one is 49mm. You'd think Ford would use a generic part, but no :-)

Having been back through the Turbosport threads, I have only come across one person with the same issue (Dave MK1). He resolved it by grinding down the support post to the pivot and cutting some off the back of the bearing. I guess it is a Pinto clutch issue. Everybody seems to be fitting them to Zetecs.

You shook my tree Dave, had to go out and see if I fixed it today, phew! I did. I had remade the arm and welded it up and moved the pivot forward. The arm is tough metal, had to slice it to bend it. Good luck with yours.

Would a concentric hydraulic clutch release bearing help?

Daryl, I think I may have read on Turbosport about one person who had a similar issue, it was on the latter pages of a very long thread. He was struggling with clutch release bearing clearance. First job will be to check all the measurements, it may be I had the box misaligned.

I had the opposite with my fit, found I had to move the pivot forward or alter the release bearing. The stud was easier. Good luck with it Dave, I'm watching with great interest, I have a V8 needing a gearbox.

Gearbox won't fit with clutch pressure plate in place. Removed pressure plate and it fitted. Guess I need a thinner pressure plate or modify the pivot point for clutch fork. I think the pivot ball screws on to the front oil seal housing, so cut down the projection
