Dutton Kit Cars and their owners

So the few days of the year have been spent "playing" as my wife calls it. So a couple of steps forward and many backwards. The 2.0l zetec is out the garage pit and on the engine stand. Looks ok so far. The mt75 gearbox oil seals have arrived. Front suspension is on and calipers fitted tomorrow. So sounds ok so far but to get engine on stand on my own was over 2 hrs. Grrrrrr. Chipped piant on one of the suspension arms so had to come back off. Grrrr for the second time. Welding to seal small hole in axle took so long lost cost and the welding looks so bad I'm not showing a pic. Can't put axle together as missing bits. Should have checked before starting, amateur mistake. Won't moan as axle was a freebie. TOP MAN. And to top things which made me say sod it and come in and shower, wheels. Bought my wheels a while ago and well chuffed as look good (in my mind) but the stud pattern is out. The English I measured is 108x4. The fronts that I didn't measure 96(ish)x4. So all in all a tad further but 10 new jobs to do. Grrrr

  • Crush tube between bearings and when you refit the flange and tighten nut that's  it.  You should have marked the nut in relation to the pinion before you undone it as the diff may whine if not set as before.
Thanks Paul. The axle was missing these bits when got it. Fingers crossed it won't whine. Cheers

Wasn't me Guv... honest.

Actually been out to the garage and I do seem to have a spare flangy bit for the front of a diff... errr so may be my fault

How much guv'nor. Lol

They make off centred washers for slight out pcds. A VW chap at work was going on about them, called waggle bolts or something similar.

Might help you out on the front, but don't know if they are any good or not!

Probably ford stud pattern at the rear and triumph at the front, adapters are available or you can have the hubs redrilled to the correct pcd

Dont they make REALLY expensive alloy ones with a ford PCD or is that for the escort stubs?

You got two sets?

Think will have to go down the re drilled option. Just frustrating. Grrrrr
