Dutton Kit Cars and their owners

some pics of the rebuild process,

the top trailing arm bracket is broke......

the diff is sloping back a little (looking up) so that will need sorting.......

As you can see there isn't a lot of bracing in an S1 chassis, that will be sorted.

Look at this on eBay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/231765338598

Pricy that one I bought two of these....... (above)

Most are 36W rated ... a full set of filaments will be 96w+ and the relay won't survive - ask me how many I killed....

The ones I have used do.....my last car had two led''s and two normal bulbs......

This is the problem with my brake light. ...

Yup a fuse that isn't blown .....but..

Check continuity. ...and open cct.

The fusible link is spot welded to the contacts....only on my fuse it's not a good connection. .....

Red Malaga isn't going to the east coast so no need to be so bitchy
Have to admit if I had put a front spoiler on it an the superslots could of taken a picture that looked like it was straight out of 1977 !
Not my style thou, get the grinder out an do a chassis number, maybe glass in that number into the bonnet for real "authentication" no leave that to elsewhere on the east coast
My timeline of photos through the years have been enough for DVLA
And due to the car being stored outside its even viewable on google maps so can prove where it is an where it has been for many years !
An so you know every little detail I was due to view the car on Sunday, someone had asked me to view the car, make an offer if I thought it was worth it and if it wasn't accepted we were going to confer and he was coming up with a max ebay bid price
Phoned the seller when I got to Monmouth an was about an hr away and found out it had been sold off ebay
Got plenty of cars so don't want anymore unless they are rare, special or unbuilt and can be used as patterns to make moulds for the parts that we don't have moulds for
Was looking for a good s3 at the start of the year to use as a company hack for Dutton spares ltd but after getting messed about a couple of times went for a transit connect
Apart from that looking for a nice leg that I can put the Caterham k series an gearbox in to do a road trip in for my 50th next year.
"deal" with a few cars each year helping buyers/sellers and help various people out during the course of a year, many repeat customers they know I know of cars sometimes that aren't in the "know" an put quite a few buyers an sellers
I try not to give cars away to idiots to destroy or claim fake expertise in the mark
Just help people out quietly an discretely

Scuttle/dash fitted......at last. Screen is next......paint by Monday with luck.....

Even got the OBD  plug in place.....

interior is going to be Acoustic cloth this time......i have enough black vinyl to do it......but fancy a carpet like finish for a change.

why acoustic cloth?

its like carpet, but has no backing on it......so it easily shapes to any surface. and is therefore easy to fit into the car.

hi dave. i just carpeted out the sierra in cheep black cord carpet. very thin foam backing and bends round corners a dream £30. full car. :-)

Screen fitted.....if it hadn't rained yesterday it would be all in red primer...

There is no rush.......well to be honest there is no point I lack paper work to insure and register the car at the moment.....

The lights will have to be removed again to paint it.....

What is the situation now Dave?

DVLA have said .....Age related registration on proof of finished car.....which is really not far away.
It's the proof of chassis age that's a stumbling block.
No official factory records exist. You can take an educated estimate based on similar chassis numbers being registered or try and take an average production number based on known facts....it's possible to get several dates .....I think a 1978 date is possible but so is a 1979 date.
The club needs some research doing and a table drawing up on likely dates for future reference.
Since I set out to build a 1977 car and was told by DVLA that I would get a 1977 registration in 2012 I am keen to get a date as close as I can....but even I cannot claim 1977.... 78 is just about possible but 79 is as convincing...

I was given a landrover stainless radiator grille.......a little angle grinder surgery and it fits.....won't look too bad once I make some badges for it.
