The Ning site is nearly FULL

The ning site in this form is aloud 150 members, which we hit today. I have removed 6 tyre kickers who became members but have not visited the site, and found a bit more space by deleting some of the African lady that where in the banned folder which took space but stopped them from mithering us. (If anyone wants mithering by them drop me a line and I'll put them in touch with you).

So we have a bit of space again but not much.

Is there anyway of increasing the membership limit or do we have to migrate to another host?

Aparently if you pay more for the site you get unlimited members and more “features“

They all asked if I knew anyone living near to the Humber Bridge that they talk to on specialist internet sites but could remember their name.

I think Dave said 150 was the limit in the site's current guise. You can increase capacity but you got to pay for it.

I did mail Tim, but not had an answer. Perhaps the DOC could fund this site as there is no action on the DOC site other than the forum and Classified.

Jumping upon my soap box once again ........  I think it ludicras (sorry never could spell), the fact that there are three sites for what amounts to, one small group of dedicated people. We have all migrated to this site  due to the fact that we get a decent amount of interaction with other like minded people. Mr G's and DOC have very little traffic now, as what is the point in posting the same thing three times? 

Lets look at having one Dutton Owners site, where we can all work hard, at keeping the Dutton marque alive.  This should be funded from our yearly subscriptions. 

A start would be to ask the question ..... what would you all like a web site to do?  once we have established that, and if all are in agreement, we look at what can be sorced.

TBH i am not a great fan of the layout style of this site, topics disappear off the bottom of the list very quickly, and looking for old threads can be a pain......however it is quite active.......but.....i would like to see a "full site" before i would commit to paying for "more features"

the owner ship of copy right is an issue on ning...... they own the copyright.....

it might not seem an issue at the moment but it is an important one to consider.

If for example a kit car magazine wishes to use a thread on here to reprint in their mag to show what the club is up to they do not ask the poster of the thread they ask NING and if they say no then thats it! ning could also put conditions which the magazine could not agree to like a 1/4 page banner advert on every page because they own all the copy right to everything posted!

Also MrG funds his own site not the club......

I could not agree to club funds being used to fund a site forum to which the club did not have 100% control over content or posting rights and would not vote in favor of such a thing. if these issues could be solved and the full site allowed some other useful features then perhaps i could be persuaded to vote for it......my one vote wont count for much, but i will make sure every one is very clear what they are agreeing to by giving ning control over content permissions.

Dave, I totally agree.  Lets look at who we all are on here .....Dutton Owners, why are we here ?? because we can all interact with one an other, where as,  its not as user freindly on OUR official DOC site, and where as we could also do it on Mr G's, it is not quite as personal and user freindly as this one ....... So if we have run out of space on here, and want to do more with the site, its time for a change. We sorce another site that we all like and can do what we do here, with added content, that can also incorporate the Northern Duttoneers (lets face it we have all rather hijacked their site!!! )  all participants must be members of the DOC ........ and we carry on having fun with each other.
