my plan is as Daryl says, new tunnel. A good look this morning with an arc light reveals: the gearbox is chunky, so it fouls the chassis cross bar at the rear of the tunnel, the balancer looks like it will clear if I can get this lump at the sump of the gearbox over the said chassis cross bar. So, I either take the tunnel out or remove the cross bar, I have to make up a new gearbox mount so the cross bar is not an issue seeing I'm welding upside down in the area anyway. The tunnel is a bit more involved as I have to remove the seats and the chequer plate, which is formed around the tunnel, so more slitting blades for aluminum are required. Then the front bulkhead looks like it may need modifying due to the large gearbox along with the top chassis cross bar. There is no rush, but I do like to think that at the end of each shift I have moved forward, however small that step may be. Report back later, "I'll be back!" :-)
The crossmember is standard escort James, accepts crossflow and pinto alike using the right mounts. It sits under 1 and 2 pistons and the sump pan sits behind it.
Is the demonic balancer at the back of the box? Can you slice the floor and make a ridge? is it hitting chassis rails?...
It's stuck James, needs to go back 100mm and then down. The gearbox tunnel cannot accept the MT75 box, actually it's the harmonic balancer that is a tad large. I took the manifold off so that I could see the engine mounts. Another day tomorrow, fresh look at it.
By the way, I think that the water pump pulley should be either yellow or green.
Yes, I guessed that it would be. How did the 1300 sit in the engine bay, was it behind the steering rack?
I see that the exhaust manifold is off, does that mean that it fouls on the master cylinder or the servo? On my Legerra, the bottom hose presses against the input to the steering rack so your engine looks to be 3 or 4 inches further forward, using the rack as the reference. That means that your engine is sitting quite a bit higher.
the way forward is the big grinder and a few hours fabricating, welding. I have even looked at the sump as a source of space! I have the rest of the day off from it, so will reflect on the problems whilst wandering through her majesty dockyard.
Remember the old saying ..... If at first you don't succeed! AND NO USING BIG HAMMERS !!!
