Just what are we trying to achieve here and on the other Dutton sites?
Do we wish to only preserve Duttons as they left the factory?
are we looking to use and modify our cars to suit the modern road conditions?
are we looking to find new ways of solving old problems or are we looking to keep a supply of classic parts to maintain the cars as they were built?
Are we going to discourage modifying of the cars bodywork?
what modifications are acceptable, if any?
Are we looking to keep Duttons as a cheap to buy car or do we wish to see values rising (here in the UK... Because they do have a value abroad)
How, if we wish to see values rising do we achieve it?
Just a starter for discussion.....

13, I counted sir, but I only know of 6 regulars on this site, if there are more, even better
Think its time for the DOC committee members on here to give us their views, all six of you .... GET OFF THAT FENCE Snigger!!!
Pete, what you did was appreciated, please dont get dispondant, but as you say, It was the same as Mr G's, which we could all just start to use again as it is there and already working. Only Adrian and myself keep our threads up to date on it, and maybe the odd other poster now and again. There are plenty of options for a site that will suit us, thats not the problem. The problem is, that the DOC is a club started many years ago, a club that has not moved with the times, and as far as I concerned, being run by people who are only interested in their own small group and not interested in the rest of us ... who we are, and what we are doing to our cars.
The people who are interested in who we are and what we are doing are all on here (Tim Walkers Site) And I would presume that this very problem/subject, is the reason Mr G and Mr Walker started alternative sites in the first place.
It is becoming more obviouse that we all want the same sort of thing from a social/club web site, because we all choose to meet here, and use it for information, and enjoy the cameradary, the site is getting more and more members. As all of us visit and participate in various other sites, car related or not as the case may be, and we know what a more versatile site can offer, this site, is now not quite ticking all the boxes function wise.
But in order for any change to happen, we need to all be in agreement and work together. I think this is being looked into at present by Tim W, It would be good to hear from you Tim !!
I've said all this before, on here, on Mr G's and on the DOC forum ......... But will keep pushing :-)
I pay £44 a year, for that I get 12 monthly magazines, A WORKING WEBSITE, insurance discount, travel insurance, exclusive sites (members only) ferry discounts, 24 hour 365 day legal help the list goes on. Ok £44 is worth the cost because of the annual savings, and the membership is massive so millions in the bank. But other than the DT once or twice a year, a stagnant Website, what have the Roman's (Sorry DOC) done for us.
Think accounts only have to be published by limited companies, some clubs like the caravan club are limited companies, so they have to publish their accounts.
Dave T, do you pay a yearly subscription to the Caravan Club? if so what do you get for your membership?
After an AGM should the minutes and accounts not be posted, I am a member of the Caravan Club never met any of thier commitee, but every year I receive a copy of the AGM and Accounts it is a legal requirement of a club
One of the testers from the company that work use to do our MOT's could tell mine was a Phaeton by a photo of the chassis one of my colleagues posted on facebook!
Most MOT testers doon't know what a Dutton is - if they are unsure they can refer it for an inspection, it might include a reference from the owners club, who would be able to identify the Dutton chassis and chassis number would be on the records.
There are plenty to Triumph Heralds, Spitfires and VW beetles that no longer look anything like they did when they left the factory. So long as it has the chassis and appropriate number of original mechanical components it complies under the DVLA rules to retain its identity. Only if the chassis is modified will it lose its identity and that applies even if you keep the original body.
Decent dutton bodywork for other than Phaeton S4's is no longer available or is poor in quality of finish requiring a costly respray. Locost bodywork comes much cheaper, so to puty a tatty car back on the road its the only option, and if it doesn't look like a dutton it might be worth more as well !
stir it up Vern?.......dont know what you mean.
