Dutton Kit Cars and their owners

Had a smoulder today under the bonnet, my fault, to many other things on my mind at present. Wires from alternator hit the 4 branch and melted through into a blobby mess. Trouble is a few things went haywire too, So my question is: 12 volt feed to lamp, lamp to small terminal on alternator, then big wire from alternator onto starter solenoid live side?? I only have one big wire from my alternator, well thats all I can find. HELP.

Argh! thought it was solved, lost my headights now, got side lights, dash lights, back lights, indicators, I can even get the reversing lights working, but no headlights, main beam warning light is good so presume its forward of that. Pesky plastic cars !

All sorted.  Had to get some new cable and terminals. All done and tested, now clipped well clear. Great when it goes right :-))

Thanks all, just needed a bit of reassuring, hope I haven't damaged the new alternator. Why have I only got one big wire coming from the alternator when there are 2 big terminals?

After the fire under the leggie (exactly the same issue with the manifold) I used 2 BIG feeds back to the starter. Changed plan half way and routed one onto the main feed into the car loom under the dash and the other back to the starter.

warning lamp is as you described, ign live feed to bulb and earthed through little alternator terminal.

Have a look at this page of the CBS book it shows all alternator connections, page 144 if the link doesn't work.
