Dutton Kit Cars and their owners

A small favour...

Can i ask someone with a a Melos to measure the wheel base on their
cars? and also an S3 as well, they should be the same as Pauls S4, but
for an accurate spec sheet for the Phaetons it should be done. to hell
with....anyone who has an S2 who wants to complete the details for me?

A spec sheet for future reference will be invaluable for all of us, so
your help here will be gratefully received lads. Cheers in advance Dave.

Hi Dave, just measured my S2 wheel base for you 2180mm.
Hope this helps. Gareth
Yes it does thanks 85.83 inches.....86 near as damn it, the same as my S1, is your car on leaf springs or is it converted to 5 link?

Thanks again, Dave.
Hi Dave just measured the S3 2180mm on leaf springs.
Have you already got spec's on the legerra Dave?
That confirms what i have been finding out, i and some other well respected Dutton owners would have put a sizeable bet that the S3/4's were longer on the wheel base than the S1/2's but it appears that they are in fact the same length. I would bet that the Melos is also 86 inches (2180mm) and not the 89 inches that was the general thought.... thanks for all your support so far.......fun isn't it.
Nope Adrian i do not yet have the legerra dimensions but i expect it to be the same as S3/4 (which just happens to appear to be the same as S1/2) if you could measure it and let me know.......anyone with a Melos who can do the same?

it's been quite boring this last 5 weeks so it seems worth while to be doing something for the Dutton world, typing is about all i can do car wise, so one or two articles i have been planning have been nailed together.
Hi Dave, S2 is on leaf springs.
Gareth
i think the wheel bases are the same its all about the body to how long the car is eg boot and bonnet
The B types were longer, it seems the B+'s and phaetons are all the same wheel base (also Legerra's and Melos's) It seems the P1's are also a different wheel base as well, It is useful to gather all this info together for future reference.
sorry to be a pain who is the one that wanted a cortina set up on the front before they chop there chassie
me.....i am about to angle grind the front of the chassis to fit a cortina set up, do you have any dimensions for me? to help with my "project"
Dave, Allan has a ready modified chassis.
Its all mk5 cortina on two large parallel rails that replace the old boxed frame. Looks sound but needs work to make the steering gear fit. Previous owner but one ran it with a rover v8 evidently. Have a look at Allans photos and you will see what I mean.
