That looks correct, they will straighten out when the car is on the ground baring its kerb weight

In the photo the car is on the ground and bearing it's weight (minus the rear - boot section). I am sure the springs are too short or too tight

Maybe there is a difference in length between the cortina springs and the escort springs?
