Dutton Kit Cars and their owners

MOT time is soon approaching and looking good.

Sorted my erratic idling and stuff....found couple of small leaks on the induction side (air). Also used a strobe timing light as a guide and used the best set up that started and ran well , the timing marks are not perfectly aligned (I am using electronic dizzy and unleaded fuel).

My question

Should the chassis number be stamped / engraved / etched on the chassis somewhere to pass MOT , if yes , can some one give me some glues where it might be ?

I have a plate on the bulkhead with the chassis number , this has been pop riveted on.

The car is on a Y plate

Thanks

Neil

The manufacturers plate on the bulkhead is sufficient for all but the most anal of MOT testers.

This is also how most of the 'clones' get past an MOT tester as a 'Dutton'.

Also please bear in mind that the serial number stamped into the plate is not always the VIN number, some older cars retain the long DVLA number from the donor car. The VIN is written on your V5C and if there is any doubt take the document with you.

My S4 retained the donor VIN from the donor. It was also down as a 2 door Saloon when I got it but DVLA have changed that for me.
