ok iv got it off cleaned it up a bit. no filter inside so looks like a moisture crap trap.....:-)))

I'd replace that with a filter, it would save the pump, that's about as good as a Legerra chassis..............useless :-)))))

yup done that plastic gause one so i can see if im getting petrol lol ...:-)

OI! ... I resemble that remark...

Looks like I have to grovel and eat some humble pie, I can't believe someone would fit that before a fuel pump........but it is a Dutton, I  never fail t be amazed at some of the stuff fitted :-))

Maybe it also serves as an 'out of tank' reservoir to keep the fuel flow to the pump consistent just like a swirl pot but a bit more primitive.

That's what I think, thought, too Ade, but it won't save the pump from the s#it in an old tank. Anyway, let's hope it all goes well for Brian, wish I lived closer, would love to tinker with efi pinto .

iv talked with andy the guy who restored this sierra in 1980`s. he never fitted the crap trap. so it was fitted buy the original builder. . and did fit the efi to the engine. so im guessing the glass thingy was a part from a mk1 escort. :-))

Both my 2.0 and 2.8 Efi Ford Sierra's used only the bosch HP pump for pick up, I've used them regularly in test beds to pull out of a 40 gallon drum. Not sure why your's would need an LP pump to the swirl pot. Does your fuel return go to the tank or the swirl pot?

Cannot see why that's been included in an efi set up. A weak link if ever there was one. 2.0L and 2.8l Ford Sierra used an in line metal canister filter up at the engine bay end as you want to filter out any bits that could get into the injectors. The bosch HP pump has a small filter in the inlet side so a pre filter would be somewhat wasted.
