Well I have done all I can with the engine mapping given my limited experience in this subject and am quite pleased with the results.

But am now going to let the experts at ATSPEED RACING (recommended by Omex) complete the job. It does cost a fair bit of dosh, but I think given the amount of money I have spent on the car so far, it would be rather daft to cut corners now.  And having it done professionally on a dyno, will give me peace of mind. 

Given that it is a road car, I want good drivability through out the rev range, but not tooooooo sensible ;-))))   They are busy lads, I'm booked in for the 12th August, have to drive it carefully until then.

wise choice. 

The Megasquirt uses tuning software called TunerStudio which is free which will help you to generate tables. But if you pay the £40 quid or so to register it then it will do an auto-tune as you drive the car. It might rely on you using a wideband O2 sensor for that. Some of the guys on the Speeduino forum have used it and speak very positively about it.

Whether that would work for an Omex or not is a different matter.

Sounds like Megasquirt have come on a lot since I was looking a few years ago, the auto tune sounds interesting. 

The Omex comes with full tuning manual and software, complete with data logging etc, along with excellent support from the works, having spoken to them several times they could not be more helpful.  I could probably get it a lot better by spending more time on it, but to be honest that side of things doesn't hold my interest enough to fiddle around with so I would rather leave it to the experts ....... I will stick to rattling me spanners ;-))) 

Megasquirt has come on a lot but its still am amateur project and when things go awry you have to post on a forum and hope someone can help, speeduino is where megasquirt was a decade ago and is too mature for anything other than experimenting.

Omex and MBE are the bottom end players in the professional/semi-professional market at around £800-1000 and the other end BOSCH are around £25000-30000. I wopuld have no hesitation using Omex or MBE in a regular roadcar I wouldn't take that chance again on megasquirt however much better it has become - its still built the same way with many 'through solder' components that proved to be so problematic for me in service.

I totally agree, BV. I am doing a Speeduino just for the fun of it. Assuming that I ever get it finished, then it might not last long. When I built an electronic ignition in the 80's it lasted about 1 minute before it blew up. I don't think I could ever sell the car with Speeduino on it because nobody could maintain it, even if it didn't fail in the first frost.

A great afternoon spent in the Dyno room at AtSpeed Racing in Rayleigh, Essex.  Very impressed with the level of service and attention to detail during the mapping process.

The car is totally different to drive now with smooth acceleration and loads of torque. Very nice and worth every penny.

great news Paul, any idea what it develops now?   Bit envious of Plymouth :-))
