From what i understand they are 1300 e struts with discs......

Err... I seem to remember having a set in my lock up, not sure if they are escort or early cortina but they are in poor condition and free to a good home if you want to come and collect Dave.

Thanks adrian i may well be in touch.....i don't know where i am working tomorrow i may also have some from danny bosworth i have to talk to him.....it is likely i may have to replace both struts hubs and calipers as 1300e parts are not interchangeable on later cars aparently..
Some pics of the strut....
Hope this works....from my phone...

Nope my new toy is a LG Optimus 2X very nice phone. more powerful than my old (4 years old) laptop...
Its been a daily driver for the last few years......i drovevit back from oxford at 70(ish) .....
I was very surprised it drives very nicely and handles very well. very surprising actually. but then the escorts were very good in that department.
Here is another of my strut....you can see where I am at. It may repair if I can make a spring seat the insert comes out.

OMG did you not check it over when you got it? You were lucky not to injure yourself ,or worse wreck the car!!!

The car was very cheap ...very....so I didn't even check it over it came t+t and was a daily driver....on the way home I might have touched 80mph for a while, as I said it drove very well.
I think I can weld a new spring seat on the leg and then look to reconning some struts from either Danny or Adrian. The discs are only 8.5" in size so are hard to find......
