Dutton Kit Cars and their owners

To be held at Donington Circuit (what a surprise) Saturday the first and Sunday the second of september. We have been invited to exhibit a Phaeton in the main hall along with other classic kits.

If anyone is going can they please add themselves to the list below so I know if I need to take a marquee. copy the list and paste it then add your self, that way I only have to read the last post to get an idea.

What you me proper manly feet and inches! :-)

Manly! more like blood confusing!

Saw us through the industrial revolution and two world wars and now we have to use this girly metric 'cos the EU tells us we have to - more euro meddling if you ask me!!!

your generation took us in to the EU and common market etc etc etc. lol

I think a lot of people are rebuilding their cars at the moment, hopefully we will have some more to attend shows next year

Plus one on both accounts.

Ok Marc fair enough about the number of cars present on sunday, but if  that was the point of your rant why add those other words?Anyway end of from me, no smelly brown stuff aimed at a fan here, as i said i dont want to fall out with anyone.

fair enough.......so far.

the fact is that other than Stoneleigh none of the shows are particularly well attended, and even Stoneleigh will be lucky to get 50 cars on one of the days (sometimes only 20 or so)

Perhaps it is time to consider whether kit car shows are the best place for our club to meet up, how about classic car shows? they will welcome us and our cars are contemporary to a fair few of them.

Or how about as a club we organise an event that would have more in it for our other half's? meet some where for a weekend event where there is something other than cars to look at so they want to attend and we get permission to go for two days?

we could meet somewhere and organise a club tent as a daytime meeting place and organise activities for the weekend, treasure hunts....scenic drives, bar-b-cue, possibly a band for the evening. Hold it mid summer when there is a possibility of reasonable weather........maybe even invite another club for a bit of friendly inter club rivalry?

Just putting some ideas out there.....my 50th is next July so i am tempted to look into organising something for that, i think that the Humber bridge folks allow local clubs to use their car park / parkland area for events....?

Thats pretty much what we do on a smaller scale Dave, as you know.

Saturday is Southport beach for the airshow, Sunday will be the 28th classic car show in hoghton, Lancashire, the ladies will drink too much Pimms and we will hopefully go home with sunburn as usual. This Thursday is club night at our local and hopefully the weather will hold for a nice evening.

All it really requires in for someone to step up like Dave Taylor did and make it happen in each area.

Rumour has it the Jago owners are always up for a party, maybe the Eagle owners too?

I'll see if I can get a message to Tonka of the Jago owners club as he's up our end of the UK.

So if we have a meeting with another club, say Jago as they were mentioned, for a bit of club rivalry, what sort of rivalry are talking here? How about a lance each hurtling towards each other at 50mph, or a bow and arrow contest, we get the bow and arrows and they become the target now that seems fair, for us, or will it just be one huge brawl which does sound fun but I would need notice for that one so I could bring some bandages, sounds fun. Just realised something, it wouldn't be a civilised meeting would it with another club? Couldn't stand having to be NICE to someone.

Maybe rivalry isnt the best word to use.

The reason I picked Jago is the cars have a lot in common under that fibreglass, same as Eagles and they have both been around since the 70's.

Common donors cars are becoming harder to find as we all know so a pooling of knowledge and experience seems like a reasonable idea to me.

I think rivalry is a good word, can't beat a bit of club rivalry, you met me Ade, don't I look like I'd enjoy a bit of inter club rivalry? Any club, I don't care.
