thought the one you got from gumtree had no docs?
:-)
well today i got to strip down my car and the damage is much more visible. the modifications i made seem to have held up at least none of my welds broke....in fact none of my strengthening sections bent, all the damage seems to be confined to the original dutton chassis.
a picture of the upright......
you can see how far the chassis rail has bent upwards on the O/S (the left on this picture as you are looking to the rear of the chassis from the front.
you can see how the front rail that runs across the front of the car has distorted...
Steve this look as bad as James's car?.......as you can see i bent it good back in 2012.
Those cam profiles are mild?!
Damage looks pretty bad, how far back are you going to have to cut?
once i get the tape measure to the chassis and compare it to the other car i will know, but it looks confined to the front suspension area.....hopefully.
yeah those cams look a bit radical don't they.......
interesting thing, i have two heads from my old X1/9 i used to own along with some shims to adjust the tappets, and it looks like they are the same as those for the Lancia engine, same thickness range and diameter.....
I may be wrong but I have a recollection of Lancia and Fiat sharing some engines
i have a hunch that they are both part of the same group , or at one time were.
so assuming that you find nothing else , it could have been worse, how do you jig up the front end when you come to replace it are their any original chassis jigs still around, assuming dutton used jigs and not just marks on the wall and mark one eyeball
