Dutton Kit Cars and their owners

Just spotted my old Melos on ebay! Was trying to track down the car a while back before I bought the Phaeton. Didn't think much would have been done to it since I sold it in 2005 and thought it would be a good base for a slow ground up rebuild as with having a little one money is tight.

Used to go pretty well had a 2.0 pinto and I fitted a 38dgas and had it rolling road tuned 106bhp and 120lb/ft of torque. When I bought it the engine was fitted but ran badly and there were still drums on the front! I polybushed the front, fitted cut down capri struts with new ball joints, refurbed M16 calipers etc Sold it as I used to keep it in an old ladies garage and she went in to a home, needed a bit of work for the MOT and it had expired so couldn't keep it.

Its looking in a pretty sorry state for itself now http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/DUTTON-MELOS-2-0-PINTO-KIT-CAR-PROJECT_W0QQit...

How I bought it

This was it just before I sold it

Just looked at the auction, you must be so dissapointed. I would be. Amazing what 5 years of neglect, left out in the open will do to a kit car. Hopefully it will go to a good home this time.
Does look a bit like its been stored without a cover, judging by the puddles on the seats and the state of the engine bay. Mine is currently stored outside but kept with the tonneau cover on and a cover over it. I emailed the seller and told him to pass my email on so if the buyer wants any background info or photos to get in touch
The chap who won the auction posted on the DOC message board and I have been in touch with him. Hopefully it will see the road again :)
