Dutton Kit Cars and their owners

With the National Kit Car Show (and the DOC AGM) less than a fortnight away, then I am starting to think about everything that I need to get ready. Obviously I need to drive the Legerra a bit to make sure that everything is in good shape for the journey, but what else?

I am intending to go on the Saturday and camp. I'm not sure if I will stay there for the full two days of the show (Sunday and Monday), that might depend on the weather. I have not slept in a tent this century, so it will be a novelty.

Who else is going? Who else is camping? What are the facilities like? Will I need to take a kettle? Any advice would be welcome.

hi where abouts is stoneleigh.....?

Anyone been approached on this subject? http://www.locostbuilders.co.uk/viewthread.php?tid=203694

Oddly... no. I would have thought that 'classic' kits were our speciality :)

Tomorrow is our kit car club annual Sprint, cobwebs blower, shake down. Pleased to say the B+ will be there. I noticed the huge tent bill at Stoneleigh, our club has an event shelter, cost £200 had it for 3 years now. Folds down into a bag and simple to erect, has two sides for the wind. Just a thought.

The club owns it's own shelter. Problem is it needs a Sierra / Beneto to carry it and no one wants to.

I have a 'party tent' in the lockup thats bigger than the one we hire in. It weighs just over a ton and takes a 7 man crew to putup / takedown.... we wouldn't get the take down crew and it will not fit in the Sierra. I offered it to the DOC on loan before I was on the committee...

Despite the expense, rental is the best answer. No storage/transportation cost and no crew required.

So has no one on here camped at Stoneleigh before? I was wondering if there is a mains electric supply to inflate my air bed, because it has a pump built-in. I could use an old fashioned camp bed but I'd prefer an air cushion, plus it's warmer.

mains electric?? Camping?? Noo, there is a kettle and a gas ring. Bring your own mug. Nick camps, Roger camps, and I seem to recall a few more, but I didn't recognise them. Derek lives in luxury, a caravan, befitting a chairman :-)

Which is why he never comes to the show in a Dutton...

Derek sometimes brings a generator, just a little one.

Whats the point in having an air mattress with a mains pump? I have an adequate battery pump (somewhere) however I have a 500W inverter if I can find it so you could get mains from any 12-14v supply.

I may bring a leisure battery and run the laptop from that as the DOC laptop needs mains power to run for more than 3 minutes.

I am NOT getting stuck in the piggin' tent all day on the monday.

This is the air bed that I was thinking of. Saves all of that grovelling about on the ground. Suitable for old people only.

I do get sent to the spare room if I snore too loudly, but she can still hear me. The garage would be a good solution, from her point of view.

Must be the time of the month, people getting edgy, calm down, relax and chill :-)) let's hope the sun shines and the marquee is full of happy smiling faces. As a thought, what else is the money for?  Magazine and a marquee, that's all we need, that's all we've got.
