Dutton Kit Cars and their owners

hi guys, i have a problem that is really worrying me.

i sold a mini last year. just before i bought my dutton. it was part restored. today i have recived a letter from the new owners wife. saying that i have ripped them off because it does not have the original reg with it. and that i am selling the original reg for £2.500.

im not selling the reg at all. i bought the car with a cherised number. and i was aware that the original one had been transfered.

she is threating to tell the dvla and get me prosecuted, i have not done anything. oh but she says if i sell her the reg for £500. that she wont tell dvla. i have all this in her own hand writing isnt that blackmail.

please help iv done nothing wrong and im really worried.  :-(((

Sounds like minimasters sold it with a number they'd transferred off but didn't tell you, you've sold it on in good faith but that don't count for much. Ignorance is no defence. Get a lawyer. That or someone has stolen the number (seems unlikely).

Sadly I learned tha hard way never buy a car with a cherished number still on it they're always trouble.

thanks daryl. this is making me feel ill.

it didnt have a private plate. the original number. for the car 984 RTJ.  had been transfered before i bought it. and it had DAS251.  iv done nothing wrong. for god sake this is crazy

thanks if she starts again ill just go to the police. let them sort her out.  iv kept the letter in her handwriting with her address and signed buy her. she needs to be very careful really. thanks martin

cheers yey another holiday :-))
