Dutton Kit Cars and their owners

Picked up my Phaeton project yesterday, will post some pics up after I get it all sorted at the weekend, basically completely dismantled, with alterations to chassis to accommodate a Volvo engine, I will be putting Pinto back in though, has three bonnets and two rear tubs, one been cut around a bit, two of the bonnets are the cycle wing type, on good one cut around, not sure whether to go with original style front or the cycle wing.

Dont worry about high power.....the Dutton chassis needs modifying for more than 120hp, and a bit even for that much.

even with 60 odd horses they are a lot of fun to own and drive.

lively springs to mind.....

What chassis mods are we talking about then? I have been offered a zetec which should be around 175 bhpees...

check out my S1 rebuild(s) post.....i have used about 15m of 1/2" (12.5mm) steel tube to stiffen my chassis.

Easy to add extra triangulation at the front where the s3 chassis is mostly empty space. I also suspect the inner moulding adds almost no stiffness which is why ours also has a steel / alloy tunnel & bulkheads. Totally stiff with a 2 litre zetec. Could probably take quite a bit more power
