Result, so when exactly will you be brining it down to my workshop?  :-)

Unfortunately I don't know your address. ......otherwise I would In a shot.

well i have been cleaning and repairing the tool........

the optical tube was broken, and the mirror missing but after nearly a full can of wd40 and lots of work all the adjusters freed off i got it to calibrate up to "0" so i am well chuffed.

now i know that it is all ok i can strip it again and paint it up and get it as good as new....

it is the sight tube...it has a small hole at the top it looks onto a small mirror which looks through the little window in the target board, over this window it a vertical line which passes through the point of the "V". what happens is that when you look through the eye tube the line is reflected in the mirror opposite and if there is any misalignment the line appears not to go through the "v" so you move the sight board until it lines up....the end of the arm has a perspex magnifier to read the scale printed on the white end of the arm (where the protractor sits) and gives a reading in millimetres toe in/out.

these are industry standard tools and very common in the auto trade. they are easy to use and very accurate.

Nice buy Dave, these are great tools. Mine came out of a skip about 20 years ago and after a mirror replacement work fine

Used a set like those for years while working as as a HGV mechanic.
