Much as I appreciate the offer of help etc it's no longer required.The core of the system is working. there is more to do to make it idiot proof and I need to tie the core to the front end so its easy to use. It is in use and producing labels 

One of the biggest problems we face Rob is making it advanced enough to work on future versions of windows. The current system runs on XP which is being terminated in 2014, all security and system support from microsoft will stop which will leave the system open to attack. I have to make it work across 3 operating systems including linux. 

As you suspected there is more to it than meets the eye and if you want to spend an hour with me and the laptop at stoneleigh then I'll happily show you why its been so complex a job. I did indeed use the word sorted in a conversation regarding the old database, i had indeed spent hours and hours searching through spreadsheets looking for stray comma's which is what screwed the data on the last attempt to bring it up to date.

Just to clear up a small point, Mike lives halfway across Manchester but still found the time to come and help me get the Sierra running again (along with others) which gave me more time to work on club stuff in the evenings.

This evening, instead of sitting on my arse watching TV I will be trying to fix the DOC website which our new ISP kindly broke for us. Of course I could just leave it but then some would be moaning that the website is broken.
