I've been there and tried to do it with the MX5 arrangement so I know the problems you face and I suspect you'll come to the same conclusions I did. Just hope you dont cut your car up to find that out. The car I used was a basketcase scrapper with no i'd so I hadn't lost much.
Constraint of the diff is very Important with the mazda PPF diffs, far more so that with any other type such as Subaru, ford sierra, landrover disco etc. as the diff forms part of the whole powertrain assembly. Engine is connected to gearbox and gearbox via ppf to the diff. The whole lot mounts to the car with two rubber mounts on the engine and two on the diff thats all. ( See pic attached) Once the ppf is removed the diff needs mounting is a whole new way if it is not to break!
70s ive heard about that decade on the history channel.lol mind u, being born in the 80's still meant bad fashion, bloody parents!
Paul, thats the theory. Vern I'm an optimist! wots the worst that can happen. lol!!!
If you use the mazda rear end you will have to find a way to constrain the diff as you no longer have the powerplant frame to provide torque reaction relative to the wheels. Without constraint the diff tries to climb up and backwards out of thet subframe when you accellerate and snaps of the diff 'ears' where it mounts to the subframe.
