Just stopped for Tiffin, have to say this engine is a good I'm. Will be even better when I get it finished. Crankshaft back in and pistons and rods connected. After break will get the seals on and call it a day. Have to scrub up for big steam rally this weekend, hope to take the B+ weather permitting. George is staying so have to take him out to frighten the local irks :-))

Pleased to say early start with a fresh head, and my home puller and a drop of intense heat, I got the little bu##er off. Damaged the seal with heat so it had to come away, one way or another. I see the crank diameter is a tad bigger on this pulley so needs to be a very good fit, him who knows reckons it transmits a lot of force turning that belt and if to easy will wear very quickly. The flywheel has just returned a fair bit lighter and all the new bearings have arrived, so onwards, just about to weigh the rods and pistons, see how far out of balance they all are. In fact very pleased with the tolerance on this pinto, all the ports and chambers are in close relationship to one another, so not much grinding of metal has been needed. Right, can't sit here yapping all day, engine to reassemble etc. :-))

Well, obviously no one knows, I'm surprised, seeing the pinto is a common engine, you cannot unbolt the alloy casing without removing the cam belt drive pulley, so I'm back out the shed devising a thin leg puller out of some key stock I have. Need to remove to change crank seal, stupid engine, think I will find an alternative reliable motor.

no, thats not possible, its very tight, even the oxy torch is awkward.

Hit a problem, think Dave Price may have had this, got the big pulley off the crank how do you get the cam belt pulley off, the one on the crank, my puller won't pass the alloy casing.

Just been down the acid house to collect the block and twinged my back carrying it to the car, didn't feel great carrying it in the garage when I got home, time for a lay down in the garden with tea and sympathy :-))

Sat in the sun with shorts and slaps, just wouldn't have been right with a drill. Bit of peace, lapping in the valves with not a care in the world :-))
