Interesting, my bosch based one didn't come with any sort of thermal compound so I wonder if it was pre applied. ( I bought a whole dizzy) Working on the same principal as computer heatsinks it really only needs to be on the mating surfaces, anywhere else is just 'messy' :)

(sorry if i'm stating the obvious)

Short circuit due to damaged cable , new one fitted and some spark at the plugs
