It was the gearbox that threw me because I was thinking Imp. I had forgotten that they supplied engines for Lotus etc hence the RWD gearbox. They were always energetic engines.

Its a late climax derived Talbot Sumbean 930cc which will bore out to 998 and run twin 40s like the early lotus cars. 

Half the weight of my beloved A series and it will rev my it will rev.

All alloy, with a chain driven OHC, so it wants to be a sports car. But inlet and exhaust on the same side?Siamesed ports and a single carb. Hmm ... I have no idea!
