Great Britain is Great Britain not Europe and should continue to be the great country it always was not part of another group that tries to dictate rules. :-)

The establishment have (as usual) got what they wanted by convincing the sheeple with fear and lies. The only loosers in this are the ordinary people like you and me, unfortunately we all lose :( Still I will take great amusement from watching the 'Alf Garnett's whine when they realise we've been had over - again :-)))

The reason that we have very limited indigenous manufacturing is that our labour rate is much higher than many other countries, particularly the far east. We can't work smarter because they are just as smart as us. We would have to devalue the pound to bring our real wages down to their levels to compete. The only reason that we currently have an advantage over those countries is because we are in and they are out ... but not for long.

I think its only communism if the road sweeper gets paid the same amount as the brain surgeon Steve.

Anyroad... its done now, the people have (rightly or wrongly) spoken.

I think my views could be classified as 'not user friendly' in some ways but what do I matter, one voice and all that.

Oh, I like that Ade, you can be in charge. I've never been a snob in educational/vocational terms and firmly believe that everyone has a place, be it road sweeping or brain surgeon. Suppose that's true communism. But I do firmly object to people laying in bed claiming benefits, I have worked with ex war veterans who lost arms and legs, still welding and pipe fitting in shipyards in the late sixties, we had some disturbing mental issue people that kept the workshop clean. Earning their way through life. Can we really look backwards to look forward? I'm often accused of being over enthusiastic when hard work is involved, but that was how I was dragged through 5 years and 9 months of apprenticeship, hard work brought money, money brought rewards. Hard work never killed me, but it had a good try :-))

Warning - the following statement is my own personal opinion and not in any way reflective of the DOC or my fellow Duttoneers...

As we opted out of the EU we will no longer have to answer to European legislation, Apply the three strikes rule for criminals and on the third strike register them as walking organ donors... because if you don't learn by the end of the second stint then in theory you should exempt from 'human rights' protction and have to pay your debt to society some other way. (I think that was in a Harry Harrison Sci Fi book I read back in the 70's) Simple fact, if you can't abide by the rules of the country you opt to live in then get out or face the consequences.

I do think the job description needs better definition though. National Service should mean serving your nation whether its as a member of the armed forces, or another branch ... NHS, Rescue Services, Construction of schools, hospitals, roads, i'm sure there are loads more...... all working for the 'Big Team' rather than being me me me. 12-24 months should do it,
