Dutton Kit Cars and their owners

Coming out of Cornwall today several trailers with sports cars, one was a stripped out Phaeton with no screen and huge minilites with slicks, looked very tidy. Must have been a Sprint or hillclimb somewhere close.

Took part in a club timing exercise yesterday, bit of a bent sprint on an old airfield, just so they could get their timing gear accurate for the full event later next month. After a few false starts we got it going and had to reduce it to 3 timed runs. One out bound right hander, one inbound equaled a left hander, and a long drag race down the strip. The old B+ stood up to the abuse and I ended up 5th. in the sports car class (won a Bounty bar). I posted the following: 0-60 @ 7.5 seconds. 0-100 @ 22.4 seconds. Top speed of 117mph. Shocked at how much fuel I used !! Beaten by a Caterham with 220 bhp Zetec, Quantum extreme. BMW powered kit and my mates new B type project. All in all very pleased to survive it intact, which is a lot more then some of the racers did, seems when they use trailers to bring their cars they try harder :-) I probably wont do it again, to much organisation. Picturs will follow once I get my camera back from my mate.
