im curious why you cant weld a fuel tank....ppl say dont do it ever. what if its been empty for ages...? just wonder why not...

They used to be £99 from a body panel specialist however he appears to have stopped making them :(

Its the vapour thats dangerous. I guess if it's washed out and ventilated, take out the sender and don't bung the filler hole then it's 'safer' but still not absolute.

I had my escort tank patched but intend to run sealer round the inside before I use it on the car. That had been empty for at least 10 years...
