Dutton Kit Cars and their owners

Found a problem with this V8, 16 valves to grind in, 16 rockers to grind and polish, 16 ports to clean up 8 pistols to weigh and balance, plus rods to polish and balance. I'll be here for days! Fingers are rubbed raw and I've only stripped it all and acid cleaned it all. The garage smells great :-)))

I have trouble with the carb I think. Must be that time of the month for Sierra's. Goes great once you get over the initial flat spot of about 1000 rpm. Thinking about putting a hammock in the engine bay, seeing that I seem to spend a lot of time there lately :-))

after a lot of huffing and puffing, the odd tea break and something a tad stronger, the Pinto swap is complete. Everything works !! Bit tappety, but no oil leaks and no water leaks. Have been told they may be a bit tappety and the alloy rocker box makes it sound worse. Just need to weld some new bracketry for the quieter exhaust system and fingers crossed, all will be OK. Well that 2 week job took 5 months of a few hours here and there, and has cost a lot more then I budgeted for. But its done, dusted, put to bed, finito !!

i have used plastic pipe that they use on air brakes ion trucks.....comes in 6,8,10mm I/D i got 8mm and the snap together joints.....they can stand up to 10 BAR of pressure and they are fuel tight as well.

Shock, Horror, it ain't the fuel pump. It's the fuel lines from eBay, porous. Second time this has happened, B+ has all new pipes, now this one to. Says unleaded on the print, but it's damp to the touch, so the pump is drawing a mix of air and fuel. Main trouble is getting the tank down with it half full. Stupid car :-)) Late night coming up!!

Certain noise gets through to the left ear, drives me mad, madder?  The mechanical fuel pump has just failed, I think, so back to plan A and slip in a Facet I just happen to have, just worried about the pressure as I haven't got a regulator unless I pinch the B+ one. Stupid Car. Found a XR2 silencer down the hillbillies so have commissioned it, payment for being dragged out of my slumbers this morning :-) well, that's lunch over with, onwards and upwards, hopefully.

It's good to hear that it is all together and working. I must have missed the progress updates. I towed a Citroen Picasso with my Ranger. The Pinto is pretty good with a nice spread of torque.

Presumably yours is VERY loud if you are finding it a problem, or is it that your wife and neighbours are telling you that it's a problem?

Had to rescue the V8 Jago this morning. Banging on my door at 6am, help! The Sierra and its new power plant handled it superbly. Towed well, no issues. It is still to noisy for me so I intend to alter the exhaust today, then I have to plan how to modify the front Grill and bumper to accommodate the big rad and electric fan assembly. Well, that's the plan :-))

I think you need to put the cam cover on. I reckon there'll be oil everywhere otherwise. It'll be fine, just remember to film it!
