Found a problem with this V8, 16 valves to grind in, 16 rockers to grind and polish, 16 ports to clean up 8 pistols to weigh and balance, plus rods to polish and balance. I'll be here for days! Fingers are rubbed raw and I've only stripped it all and acid cleaned it all. The garage smells great :-)))

I need to say this, so I'll just put it on here: Many thanks to Adrian and his new "Arkwright " venture. Already bailed me out and helped in identifying parts and getting me a part on overnight post which keeps my projects moving ever slowly forward, well done mate :-))
Dare I ask, which engine?
would be, but, I forgot the gearbox tunnel to fabricate, plus there is no dashboard, another little thing, why oh why did I take this on??
Checklist: Engine in. Engine mounts remade and in. Gearbox in. Prop shaft made and in. To Do list : To many little things to bother with a list, but, fuel pump, electrics, new brake pipes, strut brace, radiator mounts, there simple :-))
must learn to proof read :-))) or poof read !!
peed boat. ;-)))) oh thats a suprise
Great email from this petrol chem. company. Explaining what to look for and how to look for it and how to treat it ! Will sort out the wheat from the chaff and report back. Lots of information is not applicable but could put a few problems right for us part time drivers. Most is aimed at the peed boat engines and marine petrol stuff that suffer similar fate. Of course they sell a magic tonic that solves all as well :-))
you wont get the truth from them anyway steve. strange how they have targeted you.....big brother is watching :-)))
Got a large email from a petrol chemical company wanting to know why I was looking around their site, if they can be of any assistance please contact us on . Blah blah blah etc. So I intend to ask them the question regarding what to use, and what damage does result and longevity of products, metals, plastics etc. May need a chemist to help with the translation :-)))
I've read up on this overnight, and it's quite scary reading. Today I have replaced all flex with R9 on both cars. Even R6, which is what I have been using is now only semi suitable due to the ever increasing use of ethanol. Plus ethanol reduces horsepower, strips zinc from alloy components, which means all your brass bits and some alloy bits. Becomes aggressive under pressure, so wrecks fuel injector tips. No wonder cars are not built to last any more.
