Dutton Kit Cars and their owners

Went and picked up a Phaeton from Big Vern (Cheers mate!) as a rebuild project. Its an S1 but has some S2 bits from the looks of it like the rear bodywork which has the bulges for spring hangers.

The plan is to strip it back to the bare chassis and then build it up from there, new bushes, calipers etc and a new engine just not sure what yet! It came with some goodies such as some Revolution wheels with yokos, a nice stainless exhaust and a new hood.

Looking forward to getting stuck in. Here's some pics, excuse the quality they're from my phone

Just a thought, this is how the master cylinder attaches to the pedals

Would it be unsafe to move the master cylinder over say an inch and fabricate some sort of spacer to connect it to the pedal? or weld some sort of bracket to the pedal?

Funnily enough that's in my watch list on ebay, along with these two

The problem is how far the master cylinder sticks out

The simplest thing to do as i'm making a new bulk head would be to move the pedals forward an inch so it clears ok but leg room is tight in an S1 to start with. I was trying to see if any other cars I could use the pedal box from would have the master cylinder lower down

I'll have to look at the pedals in my mx5, Mx5 are hydraulic clutch though.

search through some of the Exocet builds on the MEV forum

What ever you use, they are bound to need a fair bit of fettling. The two seperate componants of the MX5 set, and the length of the arms, will give you a bit of scope to play around.

Ah didn't realise it was a Cortina one BV, when I posted before someone said it was a triumph one. I was wondering about mx5 ones Paul, wasn't sure if they were cable clutch and whether there was enough room for them

Floor mounted pedal box haynes roadster style. Anyone on LCB got one?

Make is cheap but requires welding, avoid welding by buying, which isn't cheap :-(

Pedal box you have is Mk2 Cortina BTW.

My welding isn't up to much and my mate who helps me out doesn't have a lot of time

Going back to the subject of pedals discussed on the forum recently, does anyone have an idea of a cheap alternative to the triumph pedal box I could use? Problem is the position where the pedal box would mount the master cylinder fouls on the inlet manifold. A floor mounted set would be nice but I don't want to spend that much.
