Dutton Kit Cars and their owners

well i have done the head on my sierra and fitted a new dissy (electronic) as well as strip and clean the carb and cured the misfire, which i thought was the main reason for the sudden arrival of a vibration i have......only the vibration is still there so under the car i went and the centre U/J on the prop is totally knackered. it has the staked bearings not the circlip type so will be a bit of a pain to sort. Any of you lads out there have a spare split prop for me please?

set off for work this morning and came back home and used wife's car again..... wheel bearing noise got very loud, so i will have to check it out tomorrow. I have a spare rear wheel bearing and have ordered a new front bearing just in case (all of £6 new as a kit)

on a side issue.....car got a missfire again, it was dark so a look under bonnet showed sparks jumping about on the dissy cap so out came the wd40 and a good spray.......not a blind bit of difference. one of the plug leads had come off the dissy cap....wierd.

Quick test drive and prop is quiet.......but now i have a wheel bearing noise. Grr grr....hope its one of the fronts as they are adjustable, since all 4 bearings are new there should be no other problems.

got my prop off today (not difficult as i can get under the sierra with out jacking it up!) the gear box end has 16 splines and the diff end has bolts about 65mm apart.....so does that make it a large or small diff flange?

Woah, they've come down in price! Paid £120 + vat for a Melos one some years ago from recoprop. Will need another one soon when the b6 engine goes in the phaeton.

Thanks. Single piece is the way to go I think, which is why I was surprised to see this. I've had a quote of 75 plus vat from recoprop near me. Seems not too bad as it will be a custom jobbie

Phaeton is too short to split, prop is only about 24 inches long.

Brand new prop from NW propshafts £99+vat (and shipping) They make them for various kit car manafacturers so have experience with odd fittings and stuff.
