Dutton Kit Cars and their owners

Working on the new letters for the club's 'refurb' into office from works.

Using the new logo and setting up mail merge links to the database, re-writing all the letters we commonly use in word rather than works... my eyes hurt and so does my brain. This might be easy stuff for office wallahs but its made my brain hurt, looking forward to tomorrow when it's supposed to be dry and I could possibly get a chance to do my head gasket.

Did i mention that my brain hurts?

Good capture, engine box and drive train. Always preferred that engine, and with that box, should be a good match up. I'm a bit envious :-))

Don't know where else to put this so it's getting dumped here...

Today I have been to Brum... not the car but the outskirts of the city. The hot wheels truck and the trailer have been filled and dragged back to Blackrod... and it's not a dutton.

One step closer to getting MXI back on the road though as it now has a drivetrain. DOHC sierra engine, MT75 box, 3.72:1 diff and 4 wheel disc brakes. All going to be cleaned and stored in the dry.The non Dutton came from an ex club member who isn't well (understatement) its was no longer welcome in its old storage spot so for a while at least it will be living in Blackrod. Time for a spot of car SOS as I intend to get it running and through an MOT then deliver it back to him. At this point I'm open to all and any offers of assistance. Its a non runner thats been standing for 3years under a pile of brambles and ivy... considering this fact it's fared quite lightly with just a few rusty bits to sort out underneath and a dead pinto under the bonnet. No pinto is dead for ever... just resting.

Weighs a bit more than a Sierra does that NCF...

Its not like I even use the towbar very often, twice for towing the box trailer, thats about it...

Its easier to manouvere than the Mondeo so useful for getting the caravan nice and tight to the hedge, going to add one to the front bar at some point then I might be able to get the caravan through the 90 degree turn needed to get it down the drive. Other peoples cars all over the street don't help.

Oi Butler... make yer own bloggage...

But thanks for bumping mine all the same. So, new rear shocks on the Sierra as one failed, seem to have had a spare pair for years sitting in the spares bin... only issue is the central tubes are shorter than the old ones (fit washers) and the right chassis bracket needs trimming as it is fouling the shock body... angle grinder under the car great fun. Also going to fit a drop plate on the now useless tow bar as the ball is 6 inches too high for the box trailer let alone the caravan or a car trailer. Didn't think of that when I fitted those big chunky tyres

i hope it works out well for you i have used it myself a few times in the past and it does a good job, the stuff i use is strong enough to burn your skin if you get splashed, the metal will look like new when its done. (remember the old trick of cleaning a penny in coke? that was phosphoric acid doing the cleaning.

acrylic acid is also very good......but it is really naughty stuff and you wont find it very easily.

leave it in for a while and give it a stir now and again to check progress, it wont take too long from experience an hour or so. (much quicker at high concentrations)
