Dutton Kit Cars and their owners

Hi All,  In an attempt to help me get in and out of the Melos a bit easier .Plus the security factor I was thinking of fitting a quick release  steering wheel . Has any one got any good / bad experiences with these ,I would rather pay a little more and get one that will last instead of one that is of no use after it has been off and on a few dozen times .  :0)

I'll check which one I use on rally car for u. That's taken a lot of abuse and perfect still.
Afraid can't find exact details as note in my paperwork says eBay special £50. Sorry.

Thats ok thanks any way. I hear that some develop play and wobble about after a very short time.

I was looking for a similar thing but I couldn't find anything that would fit my Mk1 Escort steering column and my steering wheel, which has a 4" PCD. After a bit of practice (with the car in the garage so that nobody could watch) I managed to stretch my muscles enough that I could actually get into the car WITH the hard top on.

It struck me that a removable steering wheel would also be a good security feature.

Hi James, I took my steering wheel off today as I don't like it, too small I have an adapter fitted to go from 100pcd to 70  But think If I put a larger wheel and a Quick release hub on aswell then the steering wheel may be too close. But like you I to like the Idea of it putting off the light fingered brigade as security seems very low.
