I am looking for a type 3, 4 speed gearbox for one of my projects, the type 3 has a separate bell housing and is a stronger box than the integral bellhousing gearbox version. I have a type E box from a 2.0L cortina but the propshaft splines are 1" on the type E, and 7/8" on the type 3. the smaller propshaft splines on the type 3 would mean that i dont have to also swap the propshaft.
My type E box is promised to someone (who owns a MK3 Cortina) so that is not available as a swap.
the gearbox may well get new bearings and seals fitted so condition is not an overriding issue.
