Dutton Kit Cars and their owners

Having fitted the new calipers (Jumble master), it took ages to bleed the brakes but they are now good. Need to sort out the rear brakes (bit of adjustment) and refit the headlights and MOT will soon be mine......hopefully.

Fitted some new edging strips to cover the rough edges / corners on the fibreglass, made up a new front grill to tidy it up a little. Fitted 2 x aero screens (8 mm Perspex).Fitted a new electric fuel pump and boy has this made a big difference, the car has been spluttering for ages and now it all seems good. A quick blast up and down a bit of private road saw the car literally flying compared to previous performance.

On a negative, the exhaust mountings broke loose ...again, so time to have a rethink. I made some stubby front spoiler doofers to mount me DRL on, these are made of wood for mock up purposes and a decent set is being made as we speak.

We are now looking at mounting 2 x DCNF webers on a homemade manifold (old XR2 manifold). This car will never be finished, it will evolve and eventually will run on Electricity in 2030 ! Neil

Great news Neil. Well done matey for getting another one back on the road.

So, went up the garage last night for a few hours. Repositioned the bonnet as it was high on one side, fitted the headlights and adjusted the alignment. Made up new brackets so that I could fit the head rests. General tidy up here and there. Painted some new wheels that I have acquired (the cosmic wheels will be for sale with good tyres for about £25).Made new exhaust bracket and mounting. Adjusted the rear brakes but I think the shoes need replacing  as the handbrake holds only when you pull it right up. Started rubbing down the bodywork . It was a long night finished about 11.30.

Took the car for a sneaky drive and it runs much better with the electric fuel pump on , need to set up the timing with  strobe light.
