Dutton Kit Cars and their owners

Me Dutton is currently black and white , it will be painted silver and baby blue.

I am going to paint the car in my garage , what is the best way to paint the gelcoat in baby blue.

What primer should i be using and what type of paint (2k , cellulose , water based etc ???)

I have previously hand painted & rolled the car using thinned out paint from Halfords , it looked ok as the car is going to be used on when its dry which in wales means not often .

Recently i have been tidying up the car ready for MOT , i reckon one more day's work and it will be ready. The MOT man has seen the car and i keep him updated , the one concern i have is that the exhaust is lound  , its basically two cortina back boxes (small cylindrical boxes) and a tail pipe. Its a deep rumbling noise, i think its great !

Any thoughts

Cheers Neil

From my experience the MOT only worries about exhaust leaks, not the design of the exhaust. If it is quiet but has a blow hole then they fail you. When I replaced my exhaust with a much louder stainless system (with no leaks) they they were happy.
