1600 x flow was running like a dream up until 2 weeks ago , it dropped onto 3 cylinders and stopped would not restart - no spark at the plugs.

Turned out the accuspark ignition module failed, got a replacement and coupled with new cap and rotor arm it just about started. Timed it by ear and it will start first time but is only firing on cyl 1 and 2, when I take the leads off 3 and 4 and nothing happens. I have fuel and spark, will get the timing light on it but I think it's mechanical ( valve clearance / valves not closing / maybe head gasket)

Any thoughts

This evening I took out electronic ignition , took leads , cap, rotor and it started and ran like a dream and then stopped and refused to start. I found the HT lead was a loose fit in the coil and there was a split in the rubber boot and there is an air leak around the inlet manifold and the main Earth on battery looked good but found only a few strands copper wire making contact. Anyway I managed to drive the car up and down the street a few times . It's insured now £86 year full comp

Happy days

Last night , I fitted the HT lead as the previous one had an intermittent open circuit. Having sorted out a few rough earth connections  and a few other bits and pieces the car now runs 90% better. There sounds like a small misfire at around 1500 rpm.

This coming weekend I need to focus on the rear brake / handbrake (bleeding / adjustment) and should be in a position for the MOT on 21st April. The MOT man had a look the other day I suggested I change the front indicators as he thought they were a little small and slightly obscured so I put on some larger motorbike ones and fitted small ones to the front wings.

A small misfire at 1500 could be just the jets in the carb need a clean out. Possibly changing over from one jet to another at this point, I'd wait until you got it up and running longer. A good blast may move it on. Good luck with the MOT.
