That is a really good video. I still have the album but I never understood the song. Seeing the explanation as being the end of the American Dream, not just Buddy Holly dying, adds more to it. That was a nice trip down memory lane, even if it has left me feeling melancholy.

My big brother and sister were " hillbillies" out jiving, and fighting every weekend. All Ford Kodiak and pink carnation. Trying to live the dream. I was dragged through the sixties with mods and rockers. Music by then wasn't really to be danced to, all paint it black etc. My wife and I "courted" to songs like American Pie, I always thought I missed out on rock and roll. Now well in my sixties I've got you lot to complain to.
