Dutton Kit Cars and their owners

Updated 18 June 2020:

Thank you to all those who made comments and expressed interest in my lovely car. Sad to say, but my car is now sold!

Sad for me, but not for the new owner or for my car, which will now get to be used regularly again and give the same pleasure to its new owner as I had for over 15 years! It now lives in Warwickshire, not a million miles from Stoneleigh, so it should continue to make an appearance on the Owners Club Stand. I look forward to seeing it when I next pay a visit...

March 2020:

After a few enquiries came to nought, I haven't actively advertised my car since last year - but it's still for sale!

So, if you want a lovely car in time for the Show, please get in touch - preferably by e-mail, as unknown phone numbers sometimes get missed. Any viewing is welcome - come and see for yourself or I can send you some photos - all reasonable offers considered.

Thanks,

Chris

Hi All - As I said in my original post (below) it's hard to put a value on cars like this, but although I've had interest from various quarters, the car is still here so I have to assume I've overpriced it.

Now that the season is coming to an end and you may want something to keep you busy over the winter (not that it needs anything doing!), I'm opening it to sensible offers - say, £1750 ono.

If that makes it more tempting for you, please e-mail me to arrange a viewing.

Thanks, Chris

Hi All - Though new to blogging, I'm not new to the DOC and have been a member (off & on) for the last 14 years, while I've been to proud owner of a lovely orange (red?) Melos 1.3

Sadly, it's now up for sale as I no longer have the motivation to drive it and want to sell it to an aficionado who has.

It was meticulously built by a retired engineer in 1987, with full instrumentation and a superb interior. I've done 6000 miles in it since 2004, and it has been maintained by a professional mechanic.

We replaced the engine  (oil leaks) in 2014 and the gearbox (noisy) in 2018. It comes with 2 spare gearboxes (!) and full wet weather gear, bought new and fitted by myself but little used.

Over the years I have replaced the battery, starter, alternator, radiator, brakes, etc to keep it in good condition and it has always been super-reliable. For most of its life it has been used at least every month, and has been to Stoneleigh numerous times.

It has been SORN'd since July 2017 but always starts and runs easily. I reckon all it will need for its MOT will be adjustment of the brakes.

Examples like this rarely come to market, so get in touch quickly if you're interested. I live a few miles from Lincoln.

Price? - It's always hard to value cars like this, but I'm hoping for offers over £2500 - it's a lot of fun for the money!

I'm unable to upload any photos to the blog, so please e-mail me and I can send you some. Or come and see it....!
