Dutton Kit Cars and their owners

was looking at the Legerra chassis earlier today starting to think about putting the body tub on and i was looking at the area where the seats will go. I noticed 3 holes roughly in line where the seats will be. 2 of them have a retained nut underneath so im guessing they are for harness anchor points but cant think what the other hole might be for for..

Any leggy owners got any ideas?

The outboard holes are seat belt anchorages. Next to them is the rear outer seat rail mounting. There are two inner seatbelt anchorages near the tunnel and close to them is the inner seat rail mounts. These are offset by one inch and do not sit under the seat rail at all. The seat rails had a tag welded on to compensate.

Red arrows for seat belts

White arrows are seat rail

I've obscured some of the holes with gasket foam on that shot, seat rails should bolt through the lower front bar and in that shot it looks all off kilter. basically you were right about the seat belt anchorages and the other holes with no captive nut are seat rail mounts.

Ah good it's as i thought then. Think i'll get the seats and runners made up before the body goes on, might be easier that way. Cheers Ade.

From what I can see its a pretty standard layout apart from that one offset mounting. I also recommend fitting tube spacers between the floor and the runners otherwise the runners just go rusty. If you want I can take a photo of mine as they are now in the car.

yeah any photos would deffo help matey.

Car is out in the drive, let me know what angles / detail you need and i will try to oblige. If you need photo's of the bare chassis that'll have to keep as its buried under a load of phaeton body panels :(

Have a look at this site Scott, good selection of seats. All prices are for 2 units.

I've always liked the Intatrim range but i'm making my own seats matey. A friend of mine has just rebuilt a Gemini and wanted a couple of GRP race seats making so i did them and now have the mould to do a couple myself.
